INTRODUCTION.
My name is Janet Anderson and each week I will focus on one or two topics which I think has priority.
WHAT IS POLITICS.
The Cambridge English Dictionary defines it as, 'The activities of the government or people trying to influence the way a country is governed.'
MY MAIN SOURCES OF INFORMATION
For the purpose of this blog, My primary focus will be on the two main political parties of England. Accepting that there are devolved powers for the rest of the United Kingdom. The main sources of information on the television, will be BBC News, Channel 4 news, In my view giving objectivity and in depth reporting. Alongside which I will review the following newspapers: The Times for the Conservatives, The Guardian for a view from the left and the Independent. Which attempts to have no particular political bias.
MY APPROACH
For the purpose of this blog, my primary focus will be on the party that is currently in government. Which is the Labour government. Elected in 2024 they will potentially be in power until 2029. The main opposition party is the Conservative party.
Obviously there are some smaller parties, such as the Greens, Liberal Democrats (also known as the Lib Dem's) and the Reform Party). I will also be commentating on the actions of governments from abroad. This is because we live in an increasingly integrated world. One where a great deal of international trade and therefore cooperation or objection occurs at governmental levels. Which in turn means governments become involved on behalf of the people it represents.
